| Tenure Track Faculty Position in Bioinformatics & Computational Biology | ||||
| The College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Bioinformatics & Computational Biology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning September 1, 2010. Exceptional candidates may be considered at a higher rank. We seek applicants from any area of bioinformatics and computational biology, but encourage applicants with interests in computational genomics. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching and to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program. This position is part of a “cluster” recruiting effort in the next 3-5 years for four faculty positions in appropriate disciplines at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the newly established Center for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology. The primary academic appointment of this position may be in the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Computer & Information Sciences, or Mathematical Sciences as appropriate for the candidate. Comprised of affiliate faculty from over 10 departments across four colleges, the Center is establishing new graduate degree programs in Bioinformatics & Computational Biology. The University of Delaware provides a rich environment for interdisciplinary research in bioinformatics and computational biology, comprising strong computational and engineering programs and full biological disciplines from health sciences to agriculture and marine studies. In addition, state-of-the-art facilities for bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing and proteomics are hosted at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute. The University of Delaware is centrally located on the East Coast between Philadelphia and Baltimore, and within two hours of New York and Washington, D.C.
