We invite proposals for Special Sessions that focus on a particular theme of the 2012 Great Lakes Bioinformatics Conference (GLBIO 2012). Special Session proposals will be reviewed by the program committee and submission does not guarantee your session will be chosen.

Special sessions have time slots of (1) one hour in length. Sessions can cover a broad range of topics relating to research in bioinformatics and computational biology. The purpose of these sessions is to bring together people with common interests to discuss defined topics. The format can include multiple research presentations and ample discussion time, or even a panel discussion.

How to Submit:
Submit a written proposal (up to two-pages in length) including the following:

• Main topic area and description of the topic/session
• Provide 50 word abstract describing session to be used for the printed material
• Topic relevance to the GLBIO community
• Reasons for planning a session on this topic
• Draft time schedule for the Session
• List of any invited speakers (indicate which speakers are confirmed)
• Qualifications/experience of submitter

Please save the proposal file as a PDF named with the session type and submitter last name. For example...if the first person submitting the proposal is John Doe, then save to "specialsession_doe.pdf."

Financial constraints: Session chairs and speakers must pay their expenses including registration to participate at the meeting. Therefore, the organizers highly encourage Session organizers to seek independent funding, and to include any commitment that they may have secured in the proposal. GLBIO will help in the administrative aspects of assigning the rooms, announcements and adding the detailed schedule to the conference program. Note that GLBIO cannot financially support the speakers or the Session organizers.

Notification date: All submissions will be evaluated by a committee and submitters will be notified March 2, 2012 if the session has been selected for presentation at the GLBIO2012 Conference. Following notification of acceptance, the detailed schedule, names and affiliations of speakers, presentation titles and short abstracts will be required to be submitted before April 14, 2012 for inclusion in printed materials. Session organizers and Session speakers must be registered for GLBIO by this date.
