Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB)

Founded in 1912 by three societies, FASEB (www.faseb.org), is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Rockville, Maryland, USA with over 20 member societies including over 60,000 scientists. FASEB's core mission is to advance biological science through collaborative advocacy for research policies that promote scientific progress and education and lead to improvements in human health.

ISCB joined FASEB in 2003 primarily to participate in their very strong public affairs and public policy efforts aimed at U.S. lawmakers, strengthening our collective voices as computational biologists and bioinformaticians in this government arena for the very first time. As a member society, all ISCB members are automatically members of FASEB as well. ISCB also retains one seat on the FASEB Board of Directors, one board advisory position, and an opportunity to appoint representatives to several committees and task forces such as Excellence Awards, Finance, Publications & Communications, Science Policy, Summer Research Conferences, etc.The ISCB Public Affairs & Policies Committee would like to hear from ISCB members about similar opportunities to join other regional federations/coalitions in order to access policy makers in other countries, and about the issues members of our community think we ought to be addressing.
