Machine Learning in Systems Biology (MLSB) at ISMB/ECCB 2013

July 19-20, Berlin, Germany

Submit Abstracts by May 5!

The aim of this workshop is to contribute to the cross-fertilization between the research in machine learning methods and their applications to systems biology (i.e., complex biological and medical questions) by bringing together method developers and experimentalists. We encourage submissions bringing forward methods for discovering complex structures (e.g. interaction networks, molecule structures) and methods supporting genome-wide data analysis.

Junior PI Meeting (JPI) at ISMB/ECCB 2013

July 20, Berlin, Germany

The submission deadline is now May 10th!

Transitioning from Post-doc to (junior) PI is a major step in the scientific career ladder bringing new challenges to the scientist. Key among these challenges is moving from a single project-based responsibility to being responsible for the projects of students, technicians, and postdocs. In this meeting we aim to bring together scientists who have recently started or wish to start their own research group. This meeting will serve as a platform for building a community of junior PIs within the broader field of Computational Biology.

The total number of delegates will be capped at 50, so don't wait to submit your abstract!  Submission details here.

Organizers: Jeroen de Ridder, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands; Venkata P. Satagopam, University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg; Manuel Corpas, The Genome Analysis Centre, UK; Magali Michaut, Netherlands Cancer Institute, The Netherlands; Yana Bromberg, Rutgers University, USA; Nils Gehlenborg, Harvard Medical School, USA; Geoff Macintyre, University of Melbourne, Australia.

Critical Assessment of Massive Data Analysis (CAMDA2013) , a Satellite Meeting at ISMB/ECCB 2013

July 19-20,  Berlin, Germany

Submit Abstracts by May 20!

CAMDA focuses on innovative methods to analyze massive data sets from life sciences. Over two days, researchers from bioinformatics, computer sciences, statistics, genetics, molecular biology, and other fields present novel approaches to analyze Big Data. Extracting usable knowledge from Big Data is an extremely pressing topic which requires advanced data mining, machine learning, statistical, and data management techniques that are presented at CAMDA.

The conference consists of keynotes, oral presentations, and a poster session where participants can present their work. As in last years, the prestigious CAMDA prize will be awarded for the best presentation. The contest presentations are complemented by high profile keynotes from:

 - Atul Butte, Stanford University School of Medicine, CA, USA
 - Nikolaus Rajewsky, Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine, Berlin, Germany
 - Jun Wang, Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), Shenzhen, China

We solicit submissions, which should include key results, figures, and tables.   All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference abstract book.

- Abstract submission deadline for oral presentation / 20 May 2013
- Abstract submission deadline for poster presentation / 25 May 2013
- Notification of accepted contributions / 30 May 2013

The organizers and chairs of CAMDA 2013: Joaquin Dopazo, CIPF, Spain; Sepp Hochreiter, Johannes Kepler University, Austria; David Kreil, Boku University, Austria; Simon Lin, Marshfield Clinic, U.S.A.   Local organizer:  Djork-Arné Clevert, Johannes Kepler University, Austria.
