ISCB Mailing List Privacy Policies

Below are the privacy polices for ISCB mailing list options for our members.

#1: Notices directly from ISCB: ISCB sends regular e-mailings to registered members regarding internal Society news including newsletters, ISCB conferences, calls for nominations for board members/officers/annual awards, letters from the President, and annual renewal notices. This email list is never shared with or sold to third parties. To opt-out of this mailing option will disable your email address from news or notices directly from ISCB, although we may still contact you via email regarding any issues concerning your membership record or payment (including renewal notices as beginning 90 days prior to membership expiration).

#2: Affiliate conference organizers and societies: Members who opt-in may from time to time receive e-mailings from related conference organizers and societies regarding bioinformatics related information. Such notices might include conference announcements and calls for papers, posters, abstracts, regional affiliate news, etc. Mailings could be from non-profit organizations or academic institutions. Shared information with such groups will be restricted to your personal contact information (name, institution, email) and will not include any other details collected by ISCB from your membership registration purposes. Group(s) who are given permission to send these alerts are also required to purge the provided information after the notice is sent. Approval must be sought from ISCB for each and every mailing and the vendor must sign an agreement to abide by the ISCB privacy policies. Financial information will never be disclosed, as ISCB does not store credit card information on our server, and all credit card payments are processed directly through our merchant bank.

#3: Product advertisers: Members who opt-in may from time to time receive e-mailings about products and/or publications. Such notices might include an advertisement about new hardware or software to enhance bioinformatics research, an announcement about a new book or journal, or services available to the bioinformatics community. Mailings would generally be from commercial enterprises, although some non-profits may be interested in contacting you about their products as well. Shared information with such groups will be restricted to your personal contact information (name, institution, email) and will not include any other details collected by ISCB from your membership registration purposes. Group(s) who are given permission to send these alerts are also required to purge the provided information after the notice is sent. #5: Public Affairs & Policies News: The ISCB public affairs & policies committee is committed to keeping our members informed of worldwide news and announcements about public affairs and policy issues and activities related to bioinformatics. Members who opt-in may receive email of such news and announcements via email as we become aware of it.

#7: Membership Directory: Members who opt-in agree to have their basic contact coordinates included in the print and/or online membership directories of the ISCB and/or FASEB. Inclusion in the membership directory facilitates member-to-member and community/public-to-member communication. If you do not wish to make your contact coordinates publicly available in this way please opt-out of this mailing list option.

#8: Communities of Special Interest (COSIs):Members who opt-in may from time to time receive e-mailings from COSI organizers regarding bioinformatics related information and activities for the community. Such notices might include conference announcements and posters, calls for papers, COSI group news, etc. Mailings could be from non-profit organizations or commercial enterprises. Shared information with such groups will be restricted to your personal contact information (name, institution, email) and will not include any other details collected by ISCB from your membership registration purposes. Financial information will never be disclosed, as ISCB does not store credit card information on our server, and all credit card payments are processed directly through our merchant bank.
