The ISCB Affiliates program is designed to forge links between ISCB and regional non-profit membership groups, centers, institutes and networks that involve researchers from various institutions and/or organizations within a defined geographic region involved in the advancement of bioinformatics. Such groups have regular meetings either in person or online, and an organizing body in the form of a board of directors or steering committee. If you are interested in affiliating your regional membership group, center, institute or network with ISCB, please review these guidelines (.pdf) and submit your application using the online ISCB Affiliated Group Application form. Your exploratory questions to ISCB about the appropriateness of a potential future affiliation are also welcome by Diane E. Thank you for your interest in affiliating your conference with ISCB. We offer a self-posting Calendar of Events on the ISCB website where conference organizers can post their events including dates of calls for participation. You can see the Conferences Calendar and link to the self-posting submission form here: http://www.iscb.org/iscb-conference-events

ISCB regularly sends news and announcements of our own and other meetings and events to our membership and the broader scientific community. Announcements for meetings not owned or organized by ISCB are limited to those events that are officially affiliated with ISCB.

ISCB Affiliated Meetings receive:

  • Upgraded positioning in the conferences calendar of the ISCB Website.
  • Upgraded positioning in the conferences calendar of the ISCB printed newsletter distributed annually at ISMB (only for events happening within one year after ISMB), and electronically immediately preceding ISMB.
  • Inclusion of at least two meeting announcements, based on availability and timing, in ISCB News and Announcements e-mailings to current, past and prospective members.

ISCB receives from Affiliated Meetings:

  • ISCB logo with hyperlink to ISCB website on affiliated meeting website.
  • A minimum 15% discount off meeting registration fees for ISCB members.
  • A statement of encouragement for meeting attendees to join ISCB in order to take advantage of the member discount, with a direct link to the ISCB membership page.

ISCB Communities of Special Interest (COSIs)

ISCB Communities of Special Interest (COSIs) are member communities of shared interest that have self-organized and have multiple activities or interactions throughout the year, rather than solely meeting during the SIG program of the ISMB conference. An important goal of any COSI is to foster a topically-focused collaborative community wherein scientists communicate with one another on research problems and/or opportunities in specific areas of computational biology. Such communication is often in the form of meetings, but can also be through other social media tools that allow for vibrant participation in a virtual environment. If you are interested in starting an ISCB COSI please send your exploratory questions to Diane E. Kovats, ISCB Executive Director (This email address is being protected from spambots.
