Bioinformatics in the cloud for newcomers
Room: MQRN
Format: Live from venue

  • Geraldine Auwera

Presentation Overview: Show

Attendance: Researchers who are cloud-curious and looking for some guidance
Description: There's a lot of talk about how data storage and processing is moving to the cloud, but it can be confusing and/or overwhelming to navigate this new world. Consider this an orientation session where we talk about what this stuff means, what are the main options, and how to get started with or without institutional support. We will talk a bit about Terra.bio (the Broad's cloud platform) and the NHRGI AnVIL ecosystem, but we'll also talk about other platforms, and we welcome all perspectives.

Comparative Genomics Resource: a powerful tool for scientific discovery
Room: KOPL
Format: Live from venue

  • Tom Madden

Presentation Overview: Show

Comparative genomic analyses are a powerful tool for scientific discovery. The NIH Comparative Genomics Resource (CGR) is a new NIH-funded NLM project being implemented by NCBI. CGR will establish an ecosystem to facilitate reliable comparative genomics analyses for all eukaryotic organisms. Join us at this BoF to learn more about how NCBI Datasets and ElasticBLAST, two CGR-associated resources, can assist you with your research. We look forward to a good discussion with you!

Cloud Computing and Bioinformatics
Room: MQRN
