Job Detail

Postdoctoral Fellow
University of Florida
United States-Florida

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the upcoming Zhou laboratory at the University of Florida. Starting in August 2021, the Zhou lab will seek to understand the structure of the fitness landscapes and guide effective directed evolution through a combination of mathematics, machine learning and molecular experiments.

We are looking for a motivated and collaborative postdoctoral scientist to lead a research project that uses budding yeast to perform high-throughput phenotyping assays and directed evolution experiments. The successful candidate will also have extensive opportunities to be exposed to state-of-the art machine learning applications and data analysis.

Applicants must hold a PhD (or be close to completion/have equivalent experience) in molecular biology, genetics, or related fields, and should exhibit a strong publication record. The successful candidate should have experience in cell culture, and the genetic manipulation of budding yeast or other microbes. Additional skills in high-throughput library preparation, and familiarity with directed evolution protocols are a definite plus.

Candidates with strong backgrounds in quantitative/computational biology and keen to mix wet and dry lab work are also encouraged to apply.
