ISMB/ECCB 2023 Volunteer Sign-up Form

ISMB/ECCB 2023 will be held at Lyon, France July 23-27, 2023 and is seeking volunteer applications. Volunteers must be ISCB members with memberships expiring on or after Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Volunteers are expected to assist as scheduled for approximately 20 - 24 hours during the conference dates of July 23-27, 2023 (generally for a shift of 5 - 6 hours).
Volunteers are asked to participate in a training session at date and time to be confirmed but likely on Saturday, July 22. The session would last 60 - 90 minutes.
Volunteers should be available for scheduled shifts on all dates beginning Sunday, July 23, 2023 to end of conference day Thursday, July 27, 2023. A schedule of shift allocations will be provided prior to the conference start date

In return for volunteering, volunteers are provided with a complimentary conference registration and a volunteer conference T-shirt.

Some volunteer roles:

Technical Moderator (VTM) - responsible for managing the audio and visual recording of presentations.
Room monitor 1 - assist the speakers in loading their presentation on the laptop in the room, ensure they know where the laser pointer and slide advancer is, remain close to the front of the room and seek audio visual technical support if something goes wrong.
Room monitor 2 - monitor the doors once the session starts so late arriving delegates enter quietly. Track and record the number of delegates for each session (approximately) and report these numbers back. Provide back up to the room monitor that is assisting with speakers.
Information desk – assist with general questions and room directions that delegates will have.
Registration desk - assist by handing out delegate badges and the smooth operation of the registration area.
Poster hall - set up poster numbers, provide overall assistance in that area. Delegates will ask for pins, directions, and other questions about posters.
General duties - track delegate numbers in sessions, provide directions.

In addition to above specific roles volunteers are asked to assist with general over all directions, assisting with collecting tickets at meal events, and other duties as required.
