While the PFAM database is an invaluable resource for sequence analysis and has become a standard component of most analytical pipelines, there are several additional HMM collections that should not be overlooked. While they might not be as well known as PFAM, these resources can be extremely useful in the quest to identify an unknown gene. This talk will cover these additional databases, both generic and specific, and will give some guidelines as to which ones to use at which times. Results from several of these databases will be discussed, several of my own special purpose databases will be introduced, and the techniques for developing your own databases will be demonstrated.
