Description

JOBIM is a conference opened to anybody who is working at the frontiers of biology, mathematics, computer science and physics, and who is interested by the analysis, the comparison and the use of genomics and post-genomics data.

JOBIM is an annual meeting for the bioinformatics and mathematics communities, delivered in a relaxed environment that favours scientific exchanges.

JOBIM represents an occasion to receive information about school programs and employment status in bioinformatics, and to learn about the work of young researchers, as they are encouraged to submit their contributions. Thus, the participation of students is highly encouraged as their registration fees are very low, and travel bursaries are made available to them.

JOBIM, for its 5th edition is crossing the Atlantic ocean, and will be held from June 28th to June 30th in Montreal, Quebec, more precisely at the Mont-Royal center. Several satellite events will be held, in particular a first France-Quebec meeting to discuss the application of graph theory in structural biology.

JOBIM covers all research areas in bioinformatics, including (without being restricted to):

Genome mapping and annotation ;
Motif searching and discovery ;
Structure modeling and prediction (secondary and tertiary, RNA and proteins) ;
Comparative genomics ;
Gene expression and regulatory networks ;
Haplotypes and polymorphisms (SNP) ;
Macromolecular interactions (protein-protein, DNA-protein,...) ;
Functional classification of proteins ;
Phylogeny and evolution ;
Analysis and classification of metabolisms ;
Word algorithmic ;
Knowledge and data bases ;
Statistical and probabilistic algorithms ;
Graph theory and combinatorics ;
Automated learning and data mining ;
Constraint systems ;
Knowledge representation and ontologies.
