Description

InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011 is jointly hosted by the Asia-Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet, http://www.apbionet.org/) and International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB, http://www.iscb.org). In collaboration with the International Immunomics Society (IIMMS, http://www.iimms.org/), we will also organize a joint session with the 4th Conference of Basic and Clinical Immunogenomics and Immunomics (BCII2011) on Dec 2, 2011.

InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011 aims to bring together scientists working in bioinformatics and computational biology, spanning a wide range of underpinning disciplines including computer science, biology, biotechnology, genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, immunomics, mathematics and statistics.

Prof. Minoru Kanehisa (Kyoto University), Dr. Alex Bateman (Sanger Institute), Dr. Pascale Gaudet (Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics), Prof. Arthur Olson (Scripps Research Institute) and Dr. Jun Wang (Beijing Genomics Institute) have accepted to present Keynotes at InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011. For the latest list of other invited speakers kindly check the conference website.

We invite you to participate in the following sessions:

1. Full papers for oral presentation and publication in one of the conference journals: BMC Genomics, BMC Bioinformatics, Immunome Research, Bioinformation or Journal of Integrative Computational Biology.
2. Abstracts for pre-conference tutorial presentations
3. Abstracts for (A) poster and (B) software/tool/resource/database/technology demo presentations.
4. Late-breaking abstracts for short oral or poster presentations
5. APBioNet Annual General Meeting
6. Collaboratively organized sessions such BCII2011 and others which will be announced on our website.

Submissions to InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011 may cover any aspect of bioinformatics, computational biology, chem-bioinformatics, bioinformatics-related cloud computing, biocomputing, health care genomics, personalized medicine, environmental genomics, synthetic genomes and organisms, metagenomics, pharmacogenomics, and immunomics conveying a scientific result.

1. FULL PAPERS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 15 MAY 2011
ACCEPTANCE: 30 JULY 2011

InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011 will feature oral presentations from full paper submissions of original research, with acceptance intended for potential publication in:
• BMC Genomics (IF 3.78; http://www.biomedcentral.com/bmcgenomics)
• BMC Bioinformatics (IF 3.43; http://www.biomedcentral.com/bioinformatics)
• Immunome Research (preliminary IF 5.33); new URL http://www.immunome-research.net, previously: http://www.immunome-research.com)
• Bioinformation (IF 1.43; http://www.bioinformation.net)
• Journal of Integrative Computational Biosciences (JICB; http://crystal.um.edu.my/jicb/index.php)

APBioNet was the first Asia-Pacific bioinformatics society to publish full papers in BMC Bioinformatics since 2006, and additionally in BMC Genomics from 2009. Supplements from previous two conferences are listed below:

2010: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2164/11?issue=S4
2010: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2105/11?issue=S7
2009: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2164/10?issue=S3
2009: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2105/10?issue=S15

After rigorous review of each submission by at least two members of the Program Committee, authors will be asked to revise their manuscripts, prior to acceptance for publication and oral presentation at InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011, for which at least one author must register.

2. TUTORIAL ABSTRACTS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 01 JULY 2011
ACCEPTANCE: 30 JULY 2011

InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011 will feature a limited number of half-day tutorials on 28-29 November, on either well-established or new and emerging, cutting-edge topics, relevant to bioinformatics. Tutorials are intended to provide an educational experience and must provide a comprehensive overview of the subject matter, rather than research highlights from the presenter(s). Lecture materials and instruction notes are required from the presenter who will be provided a free InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011 registration.

3. POSTER/DEMO ABSTRACTS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 01 JULY 2011
ACCEPTANCE: 30 JULY 2011

We solicit high-quality research abstracts for (A) Poster Sessions and (B) Technology, Tool, Methodology, Resource, Database, Software Demonstration oral presentations.

At least one author of each selected poster/demonstration must register for InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011. Furthermore, a single registration can cover only oral presentation and one poster presentation or two poster presentations. Posters and demonstrations are intended to convey a scientific result and should not be used to advertise commercial products or services.

4. LATE-BREAKING ABSTRACTS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 01 OCTOBER 2011
ACCEPTANCE: 30 OCTOBER 2011

We invite abstracts on peer-reviewed journal papers that have been accepted for publication or have been will be published on or after January 1, 2011 (please provide us email acceptance or online version). A small number of short oral or poster presentations is available and will be allocated at the discretion of scientific Program Committee. Decision criteria are the impact of the work on the field, the likelihood that the study would be of interest to the InCoB/ISCB-Asia 2011 audience and the relevance of the research to bioinformatics and application to molecular and medical sciences.
