Description
 
The broad-based Molecular Genetics of Bacteria and Phages Meeting has been ongoing for over 60 years and is a premier venue for investigators and students at all stages of their careers to learn of new developments and advances in this field. It is a particularly outstanding meeting for graduate and postdoctoral students to present and discuss their work on a variety of topics including, Ecology and Evolution, Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, Bioinformatics, and Genomics, Physiology and Metabolism, DNA Replication, Recombination, and Repair, Transcription Mechanisms and Regulation, Translation, and, Posttranscriptional Regulation, Development, Cell Biology and Cell Surfaces, Pathogenesis and Host Microbe Interactions, Bacteriophage, Global Regulation, Cell Signaling and Stress Responses.

Bonnie Bassler (Princeton University) will be the keynote speaker and Irina Artsimovitch (Ohio State University), Frederic Barras (CNRS Marseille), Andrew Camilli (Tufts University), Alan Grossman (MIT), Carolyn Harwood, (University of Washington), Natividad Ruiz (Ohio State University), Nassos Typas (EMBL-Heidelberg), Karen Wassarman (University of Wisconsin-Madison), George Weinstock (Washington University) will be the session chairs. All other speakers for the 9 oral sessions will be selected from submitted abstracts (deadline June 7, 2013). The meeting will have continuous poster sessions and a bioinformatics workshop. Social events will include an opening mixer, a picnic, a banquet and the Hatch Echols Memorial Tennis Tournament. Mark Goulian (University of Pennsylvania) and Tricia Kiley (University of WI) are co-organizers.
