Applied Bioinformatics in Life Sciences Bioinformatics has become an integral part of biological research, where innovative computational approaches are often required to achieve high-impact findings in an increasingly data-dense environment. This first edition will focus on recent developments in the field of bioinformatics, and highlight the power of bioinformatics in the fields of medical, agricultural, and biotechnology research. Renowned speakers will provide a broad view on the application of bioinformatics in life sciences, and its future perspectives. During four plenary sessions the following topics will be discussed: Modelling and Data Integration, Next Generation Sequencing, Protein Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. In addition to an exciting scientific program, the conference will provide ample networking opportunities and a Meet the expert session. Meet the Expert session with: ‘Prof. Dr. Matthias Mann - Max Planck Institute, Biochemistry, DE’ We offer all junior researchers the opportunity to join our ‘Meet the Expert’ session with Prof. Dr. Matthias Mann. During an informal round table discussion on the 18th of March, PhD students and postdocs will have the exclusive opportunity to ask any question/advise related to their research and careers. If you are interested in joining the session, then send an e-mail to conferences@vib.be. Seating is very limited so make sure to reserve a spot soon. Successful Planning of Large Data Generating Experiments training onMarch 16, 2016 in Leuven, Belgium. The conference is preceded by a training day, hosted by Training at VIB. This workshop is organized with the aim of providing a proper foundation once planning large data generating experiments. With the focus of giving practical recommendations and valuable tips and tricks. Registration and more info can be found on the VIB training website. |
