Description |

AIM AND SCOPE Data Management in life sciences is growing in importance both in the industry and in academia. Databases are being developed by the industry for disease-specific molecular gene expressions, population-specific variations of pathogenesis, phenotype data obtained from animal models and cell-lines, results of clinical trials, and so forth. On the other hand, academic researchers are developing novel data models, efficient algorithms and access structures for common biological data types, analysis of novel devices like microarrays and gene chips, bioinformatic data mining, modeling, analysis and search of interaction networks, to name a few. Besides, the needs for integrating heterogeneous, multi-scale information derived from raw observations, computations and simulations are gaining significant importance. The aim of the conference is to focus on real-life problems and the solutions data management systems can offer. We would like this conference to be a meeting ground of the researchers and the practitioners. We solicit research papers from the academia and the industry as well as application papers. We welcome papers that thoroughly present and characterize a real-world problem, even though the problem is not completely solved. We also welcome papers that outline a specific solution developed to handle a concrete problem. |
