The International Congress of Genetics is held just once every five years. In July 2003 the XIX International Congress of Genetics will be held in Melbourne, Australia. A total of 280 elite, invited speakers will address the Congress. The remarkable lineup of special guests and speakers at the 2003 Genetics Congress includes eight Nobel Laureates - Sydney Brenner, Peter Doherty, Robert Horvitz, H. Gobind Khorana, John Sulston, Susumu Tonegawa, James D. Watson and Eric Wieschaus. There will be a total of 54 Symposia plus a special one day symposium on Human Genetics and Global Healthcare. A dynamic program of social events is planned and there are many options for pre- and post-Congress holiday packages along with many tours. A series of satellite meetings will be held in association with the Congress. The annual conferences of the Association for the Advancement of Animal Breeding and Genetics, the Genetics Society of Australia and the Human Genetics Society of Australasia will be incorporated into the Congress.
