The National Microbial Pathogen Data Resource (NMPDR), www.nmpdr.org, will hold a collaborative workshop on the use of NMPDR resources for teaching molecular biology or microbiology. NMPDR is a Bioinformatics Resource Center funded by NIAID to curate functional data for more than 50 strains of nosocomial or food-borne, Category B pathogens. The resource includes more than 400 additional genomes that support our method of annotation through comparative analysis. This three-day workshop will deliver an overview of NMPDR tools for comparative genomics, which will then be incorporated into case studies, inquiry units, or problem-based learning activities relevant to courses taught by workshop participants. The workshop will be held at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana, IL on July 9 - 12, 2007. | |
