| The International Conference on Bioinformatics 2002 (InCoB 2002) was organized during 6-8 February 2002 in Bangkok, Thailand under the theme: North-South Networking. The local organizers of InCoB 2002 were: 1. National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) 2. National Electronics and Computer Technology (NECTEC) 3. National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) The Conference was co-organized by the Asia-Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet), the Target Research Unit network (TARUN/T2) and the Thailand Biodiversity Center (TBC). The Conference consisted of 14 keynote and plenary lectures, 31 oral presentations (in concurrent sessions) and 82 poster presentations in the following topics: - Sequence Analysis - Bioinformatics and Health - Structure Analysis - Expression Data Analysis - Bioinformatics and Microbes - Bioinformatics and Agriculture - Bioinformatics and Biodiversity/Molecular Evolution - Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics of Tropical Disease (co-organized with TARUN/T2) A session on Bioinformatics Education expanded the horizon for participants interested in the bioinformatics education in Japan, Thailand, Singapore and the S* Life Science Informatics Alliance, whereas Bioinformatics in the Asia-Pacific Region session offered the country report on bioinformatics in China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. |
