19th International Conference on Genome Informatics (GIW-2008)
Australia - Queensland - Gold Coast

Hosted by: Bioinformatics Australia
Venue: Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa
Dates: Dec 01, 2008 through Dec 03, 2008

Call for Posters: 2008-07-04 through 2008-09-22

Description

POSTERS are solicited for the 19th International Conference on Genome Informatics (GIW-2008), to be held at the Marriott Surfers Paradise Resort & Spa, Gold Coast, Australia from 1-3 December 2008. For more details go to http://www.mlaa.com.au/giw2008

We welcome posters in all areas related to a computational understanding of biological systems at the molecular level, including theoretical and practical research, software and databases, particularly at a genome-wide scale or with a systems orientation. Posters presenting relevant research institutions, facilities, centres and programs are likewise welcome.

SUBMISSIONS:
An abstract must be submitted for each poster. Poster abstracts are limited to 2 pages including title, text, figures, tables and bibliography. Abstract templates (Word, LaTeX, PDF, ps) are available on the conference website

http://mlaa.com.au/giw2008

All abstracts must be submitted via the site

Poster abstracts will be reviewed. Accepted poster abstracts will be compiled into a poster book and distributed as part of the registration package. Additionally, a number of notable abstracts may be selected for short oral presentation at the conference.

POSTER TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Posters may be either printed (presented on a poster board) or electronic (presented wholly or in part on a laptop or monitor). Printed posters should be no larger than 120 x 85 cm (A0 size). We encourage posters to be presented in portrait orientation (i.e. maximum 120 cm high and 85 cm wide) but those in landscape orientation (i.e. maximum 85 cm high and 120 cm wide) will also be accommodated. For larger sizes or special requirements, please contact Mark Ragan (contact information below).

The conference venue supports a limited number of electronic posters. Electricity is 240V. Tables and extension cords will be provided; any other equipment is provided by prior arrangement only. Electronic posters will be presented in the same poster sessions and rooms as all other posters.

ABOUT GIW:
The International Conference on Genome Informatics (GIW) is the longest-running international bioinformatics conference. GIW has grown to bridge theory and experiment, academia and industry, East and West.

GIW was held annually in Japan through 2006, at which time its organisation was transferred to the new Association of Asian Societies of Bioinformatics (AASBi). GIW 2007 was held in Singapore, and in future the location of GIW will move among AASBi countries.

Bioinformatics Australia, representing the bioinformatics community in Australia, is honoured to host GIW-2008. Bioinformatics Australia is organised within AusBiotech, the national peak body in biotechnology. The annual meeting of Bioinformatics Australia (BA-2008) will be combined into GIW-2008.
