The Computational Medicine and Statistical Learning Laboratory at the Tampere University of Technology, Finland, has an open position for a PhD student.

The area of research is in the broader field of biostatistics and we are are particularly interested in the analysis of NGS data from cancer.

We are looking for a highly motivated, talented applicant with:
1. A master’s degree in the field of statistics, biostatistics or applied statistics with excellent grades.
2. Very strong programming skills in at least one common programming language.
3. Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
4. Experience with ensemble methods, e.g., bagging or boosting, and LASSO (Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator) is desirable.
