University/Institute: Weill Cornell Medicine
Location: United States - New York
Focus: Computational Biology
Recommended Undergraduate Degrees: Computer Science, Math/Statistics
Degree Offered: MS/MSc/MA/M.Eng (< 1 year)MS/MSc/MA/M.Eng

Key characteristics of program:

The Master’s program in Computational Biology and Medicine (CBM-MS) offers a unique training opportunity, providing students theoretical understanding of the quantitative methods underlying modern biomedical science and practical training in state-of-the-art applications of computational approaches in biology and medicine. Our faculty from Weill Cornell Medicine, Sloan-Kettering Institute, and Cornell Tech are world-class leaders in computational biology research and applications.

The CBM-MS is 18 months in duration. The first half of the program contains the foundation and competency courses in mathematics, biology, and computer science, and provides training in quantitative biology and bioinformatics. The second half of the program focuses on thesis research. Students will join one of our top-notch research labs to carry out an independent, mentored, project.

Program Goals:

Upon graduation from CMB-MS, you will have acquired extensive competences in quantitative and computational biology. Graduates will be prepared to launch a professional career at the forefront of data analytics, bioinformatics, and computer modeling, for example in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Likewise, for those interested in PhD studies in computational biology or related fields, this degree will strengthen their preparation and competitiveness.
