Tutorial Proposals

Tutorials provide hands-on training and in-depth exploration of established and emerging topics, helping participants expand their knowledge and practical experience.

Because they serve an educational function, tutorials should provide a balanced perspective on a field of research. Sessions may include talks or panel discussions, but should also include hands-on exercises that provide a deeper insight and understanding of the subject matter.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

• Biomarker discovery using AI tools and network models

• Biomedical image analysis

• DNA and protein language models

• Integration of domain knowledge in biological system and data analysis

• Network-based integration and analysis of OMICS data

• Pathways and networks in complex diseases

• Protein design, drug design, and virtual screening

• Single cell and spatial transcriptomics data analysis

Tutorial proposals should be a minimum of 2 pages and no more than 6 pages in length, and should contain the following information:

• Title

• Abstract

• Organizers (include full name, title, affiliation, email address, webpage, and qualifications for each)

• Tutorial details, including things like the learning objectives, the maximum number of attendees, a draft schedule, and intended audience

The final proposal must be uploaded as a PDF file, in addition to a brief description to be used on the website to promote the tutorial.

Special Session Proposals

Special sessions at GLBIO can be thought of as mini-symposia, presented by subject matter experts, focusing on popular topics in bioinformatics, or on new or emerging areas in the field.

Session topic and structure can vary but should fall within one of the follow session types:

• Focused sessions on specific research problems in computational biology and bioinformatics

• Software schools, aimed at providing training in new methods

• Activities focused on students and post-docs, or on non-academic career opportunities

All proposals should be a minimum of 2 pages long and no more than 6 pages, and have the following structure:

• Title

• Topic

• Organizers (include full name, title, affiliation, email address, webpage, and qualifications for each)

• Session details, including things like session duration, structure, draft schedule, confirmed/possible speakers
