International BCB-Workshop on Gene Annotation Analysis and Alternative Splicing
Germany - Berlin

Hosted by: Juergen Kleffe
Dates: Dec 13, 2004 through Dec 14, 2004

Call for Proceedings Presentations: 2004-07-01 through 2004-09-01
Event Registration: 2004-07-01 through 2004-11-01

Description

Accurate annotation of the genomic sequences has remained a bottleneck in most if not all genome sequencing efforts. The model based ab-initio gene prediction has limited accuracy and refined annotation using cDNA or EST evidence is restricted by incomplete sampling of transcripts. Alternative splicing is another challenge of the field. Therefore, the workshop wants to discuss current methods and recent advances of sequence analysis aiming at improved automatic gene annotation as well as new directions of research bridging between knowledge of genes, human nutrition, health, medical treatment and drug design.
