Description

Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) methods are revolutionizing genomic and functional-genomics research. However, the manipulation and interpretation of the millions of sequences produced by a typical experiment still present significant computational challenges.

This workshop is the fourth edition of a series dedicated to NGS, which is yearly held in Bari, Italy. This year the workshop will be held within the context of the recently launched Epigenomics Flaship Project (http://www.epigen.it/) and will be therefore devoted to the applications of NGS data to Epigenomics. The Workshop will be an occasion to present and discuss new ideas, results, as well as innovative statistical methods and algorithms to address challenges and problems of bioinformatics approaches in this field, that could be considered in future developments of the EPIGEN project.

EPIGEN will support the attendance of up to 25 participants from research teams involved in the project, by covering registration, travel and living expenses. To apply for the NGS2012 EPIGEN Travel Grant please fill this form (deadline Nov 16, 2012). Selection priority will be given to applicants submitting an abstract for poster or oral presentation.

Main topics include:

- ChIP-Seq for the study of chromatin structure and Transcription Factors interactions
- Methylome analysis
- RNA-Seq analysis for estimating expression profiles and alternative splicing pattern
- ncRNAs and epigenetic regulation
- Advances in high-throughput sequencing platforms, storage and retrieval of data
- Data integration and System Biology models

The workshop program includes: 4 keynote lectures, selected oral presentations, a poster session and a round table focused on training in Bioinformatics.

All information are available from the workshop web site.
