VIZBI 2015, the 6th international meeting on Visualizing Biological Data will be held March 25-27, at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Cambridge MA, USA. VIZBI 2015 is an NLM and NIH funded meeting that brings together scientists, illustrators, and designers actively using or developing computational visualization to study a diverse range of biological data. Keynotes This year, we have keynote talks from John Stasko (Data Visualization principles), Jer Thorpe (Visualization for outreach) and Dan Evanko (Visualization for scientific publication). Sessions 21 invited talks over six sessions will review the state-of-the-art and challenges in visualizing data from genomes, transcripts, proteins, cells, organisms, and populations. Art & Biology Evening Biological data inspired images and films submitted by VIZBI delegates will be showcased during the Art and Biology evening, after Jer Thorp’s keynote on visual communication and outreach. Tutorials 12 tutorials were accepted this year for the VIZBI tutorial day on Metagenomics, Biological Networks, 3D structure, Visualisation prototyping, Genome browsing, Cell shape modelling, Single cell and 3D genomics, and web based biological data visualization. Poster and Art and Biology Submissions All VIZBI 2015 participants have the opportunity to present a poster describing their work. Just before your poster session, you will be given 60 seconds and 2 PowerPoint slides to briefly introduce yourself and your poster to all VIZBI participants (details here). Virtual Participation If you cannot join us in Cambridge, you have the option of virtual registration, which allows participation in the conference (but not tutorials) via streaming video. |
