The 15th NETTAB Workshop and the 11th Integrative Bioinformatics conference are joining their forces for a synergistic event able to attract even more researchers than in the past on their traditional topics. The challenge for Integrative Bioinformatics is to capture, model, integrate and analyze large quantities of high dimensional data scattered across thousands of biological databases and hundreds of scientific journals in order to provide systematic insights into complex biological systems. The huge data size makes it necessary to deploy the majority of tasks over the Internet. Network tools, which are the scope of NETTAB workshops, are fundamental to achieve above goals. A special session will be devoted to the functional and structural characterization of non-coding RNAs. The joint event will be of interest to Bioinformaticians, Computer Scientists, Systems Biologists, Synthetic Biologists and others working or interested in the above research scope. It will provide an excellent environment and a range of opportunities to present and discuss methods, theoretical approaches, algorithms, tools, platforms, practical applications and experiences. NETTAB/IB2015 is organized by: CNR Institute of Biomedical Technologies, Bari, Italy, Fachgruppe IMBio, German Society of Computer Science (GI), and IRCCS AOU San Martino IST, Genoa, Italy. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Christophe Blanchet, French Institute of Bioinformatics, Gif-sur-Yvette, France Emek Demir, Sloan Kettering Institute, New York, USA Alexander Goesmann, Department of Biology, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen, Germany Artemis Hatzigeorgiou, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece Rafael Jimenez, ELIXIR Chief Technical Officer - ELIXIR directorate Paul Kersey, European Bioinformatics Institute, Hinxton, Cambridge, United Kingdom TUTORIALS Tutorial days are planned on the days before the meeting, October 12 and 13, 2015, at University of Bari, Department of Computer Science, in Bari. Talks can be submitted either as full papers or structured abstracts. Accepted full papers on Integrative Bioinformatics topics will appear in a special issue of the PubMed indexed Journal of Integrative Bioinformatics (ISSN 1613-4516, http://journal.imbio.de/ ). Abstracts for oral communications and for posters will only be considered for the publication in the book of abstracts of the event, that will be made available to participants only: it won’t be an official publication. Authors of all abstracts presented at the joint event, both as oral communication and as poster, will be invited to a Call for full papers that will select best scientific contributions from the event for a Supplement or Special Issue in an International journal with Impact Factor.
