The German Conference on Bioinformatics is an annual, international conference devoted to all topics in bioinformatics. Its tradition reaches back to 1985, and recent conferences have attracted up to 200 participants from all over the world.

The 2007 conference is organized by the University of Potsdam , the MPI for Molecular Plant Physiology, the MPI for Molecular Genetics and the Berlin Center for Genome Based Bioinformatics.

Areas of interest at the German Conference on Bioinformatics 2007 are:

-Sequence Analysis and Comparative Genomics
-Analysis of Functional Genomics Data
-Structural Bioinformatics
-RNA/DNA Structure
-Molecular Interactions and Drug Design
-Systems Biology
-Biochemical and Genetic Networks

The focus is not limited to specific computational techniques or biological applications. Scientists applying bioinformatics in life science related research are especially encouraged to present their work at the GCB.
