Key characteristics of program:

We emphasize building new tools, more than using existing tools. We use stochastic modeling and machine learning extensively.

We have strengths in gene-finding, assembly, comparative genomics, RNA genes, archaeal genomics, and ancient DNA.

We require both biochemistry and computer science as part of the program.

Program Goals:

To give students a very broad background
to prepare them for graduate education
in bioinformatics. (To a lesser extent to
prepare them for jobs in industry.)
