Key characteristics of program:
Epidemiology examines which factors make an individual or an entire population sick and which maintain their health. With the help of epidemiologic knowledge, many health policy measures have been implemented. With changing life conditions, new health risks are appearing and pushing the health spectrum of society into more chronic and partially preventable illnesses. Along with the methodological and analytic knowledge that is presented in the master of science programme, current topics in public health research and education will be offered that reflect the various possibilities of further specialisation. A focus in Epidemiology, Clinical Epi, Genetic Epi, Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology as well as Human Functioning Science will be accommodated. |
Program Goals:
Graduates with a Master of Science in Epidemiology are able to analyse problems in different health-related fields and to plan, conduct and interpret studies. They are aware of the relationships between diseases and their underlying risk factors. They know how diseases are diagnosed and treated, and how to assess their prognosis and impact on quality of life. |
