Key characteristics of program:

The BMS MS program is comprised of a minimum of 32 credits including a practical work in bioinformatics as follows:

-Introductory Classes (up to 4 credits)
-Four Core classes (12 credits)
-Electives classes (minimum 6 credits)
-Practical training (12 credits)

One third of the credits are accrued through a practice in biomedical informatics in the areas of research, industry or consulting.

For this practica, students have access to higher education programs and research facilities in laboratories of more than 180 NYU School of Medicine and Langone Medical Center faculty members who have appointments in basic science or clinical departments as well as affiliated faculty located at the NYU main campus.

Program Goals:

The main goal of the BMI MS is to prepare individuals for careers in biomedical informatics and computational biology providing practical and rigorous hands-on training in experimental design, data generation, data science, data analysis and modeling of biomedical systems in real life situations.

The education of the Masters Program is geared for individuals interested in careers in academic research environments, pharmaceutical companies or biotech industry as well as medical centers, hospitals, insurance and consulting companies.
