Degree Offered: MS/MSc/MA/M.Eng (< 1 year)MS/MSc/MA/M.Eng (Major/Primary Degree)

Key characteristics of program:

Biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations are increasingly viewing bioinformatics as an integral part of their research processes. As biomedical industries seek to make use of vast amounts of genomic data and produce more complex and accurate biological models, they are relying more and more on bioinformatics’ mathematical, statistical and computational methods.

Designed for working professionals looking to advance their careers along with their educational goals, our online MS in Bioinformatics stands apart because it equips students to:

• Develop bioinformatics tools through modeling, prediction and optimization.
• Develop scripts and programs to manipulate data and solve bioinformatics problems.
• Apply methods of statistical genetics to detect disease in experimental and human populations.

The 30-credit program has six required courses and four electives.

Program Goals:

Graduates of our MS in Bioinformatics program should feel equipped to engage in productive bioinformatic research and effectively communicate research projects and findings to multidisciplinary project teams.

Program outcomes:

• Apply a variety of skills to the processing, storage, analysis and modeling of many types of biological data.
• Provide valuable insights into the understanding of complex biological systems and their quantitative data.
• Positively impact research projects in the corporate and academic sectors.
• Effectively communicate and present bioinformatic analysis to multidisciplinary project teams.
