Key characteristics of program:

The certificate in bioinformatics program emphasizes a systems engineering approach to provide a foundation in systems biology and pathology informatics. Students are provided with hands-on experience in the application of genomic, proteomic, and other large-scale information to biomedical engineering as well as experience in advanced computational methods used in systems biology: pathway and circuitry, feedback and control, machine learning, and biostatistics.

The certificate can be completed in a year and if successful in the program students have an option to seamlessly transfer into the MS program in Biomedical Science or Biomedical Engineering at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems at Drexel University.

Program Goals:

Graduates of the program are expected to have a broad understanding of the field of bioinformatics/computational biology and a high level of understanding of specific areas.
