Key characteristics of program:
Graduation requires at least 120 ECTS credit points (at least 69 graded credits). Advanced computer science courses offered are Data structures and Algorithms, Computer Graphics, Data Base Systems, Information Retrieval, Artificial Intelligence, Optimization, and Software Technique. Advanced life scence courses are The Human Genome, Biophysics and Structural Biology, Metabolic Engineering, and Protein Techniques. Advanced bioinformatics courses are to be selected among Bioinformatics III and special lectures on topics in current bioinformatics research such as Statistical Learning, Drug Design, Structural Bioinformatics, Protein Folding etc. Students are actively involved in the research of the department and the research institutes on campus (Max Planck Institute for Computer Science, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence) during the required Master thesis. Thus, students can apply their knowledge and understanding in new research environments and multidisciplinary contexts. |
