Key characteristics of program:

The accelerated programs through the Bioinformatics Program include coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Statistics as well as hands-on experience. Both a thesis (research-based) and non-thesis (internship-based) options are available for the MS portion of the accelerated degree plan. The compressed timeline saves students time and money in their preparation to go on to further schooling or entry into the workforce.

Program Goals:

Graduates of this program will gain:
1. a solid foundation in biological, computational, chemical, and statistical concepts and theory;
2. the facility to interpret primary scientific literature;
3. the capacity to employ statistical and computational methods to investigate and solve problems within the life sciences;
4. the ability to conduct bioinformatics study in industry and/or the research environment; and
5. science-related oral and written communication skills.
