This is a full-time research degree and involves performing a research project in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology under supervision. It is expected that the student will write and submit several publications reporting the results of the research project. This degree requires submission of an externally examined thesis, and an oral defense of the thesis. |
Program Goals:
The graduate is expected to be a well-rounded scientist capable of clear, logical argument, significant knowledge of a range of bioinformatics fields, rigorous assessment of scientific results, and with expert knowledge in at least one area of specialty. The graduate will further be able to develop and manage novel research projects, perform complex analyses using large biological data sets, and to use a range of bioinformatics tools and to develop high-quality, new analyses tools. |
