CALL FOR PAPERS – RECOMB/ISCB Conference on Regulatory and Systems Genomics, with DREAM Challenges

Join us for the 6th Annual RECOMB/ISCB Conference on

Regulatory and Systems Genomics, with Dream Challenge
 

November 8-12, 2013

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

This conference is one of the premier annual meetings for computational and experimental scientists in the areas of regulatory genomics and systems biology. The conference will present the latest findings about regulatory and systems genomics, foster discussion about current research directions, and establish new collaborations that will advance the development of a systems-level understanding of gene regulation. It will feature keynote presentations, oral presentations, and poster presentations.

Submit your full-length papers and abstracts (abstracts will be chosen for oral presentations or posters). Authors of accepted papers will be invited to present their work at the meeting. The call for participation in the DREAM8 Challenges will begin on May 15, 2013.

Regulatory Genomics Special Interest Group (RegGenSIG)

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS


The RegGenSIG meeting focuses on bioinformatics for regulatory genomics, fostering a collaborative community wherein scientists convene to discuss difficult research problems in computational regulatory genomics.


CALL FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACTS
To make an oral presentation at RegGenSIG, extended abstracts (2-3 pages) should be submitted by May 4, 2013 (extended deadline) to: This email address is being protected from spambots. "Birds of a Feather":  GLBIO 2013 will offer a number of 'spontaneous' open meetings for participants to meet and talk about topics of mutual interest. The "Birds-of-a-Feather" (BoF) meetings offer an opportunity for colleague interaction in a relaxed atmosphere. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and to recruit as many (or as few) interested participants as desired by the topic leader. Additional details will be provided prior to the Conference.

A Group Hike is planned for Monday, May 13th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm through beautiful Schenley Park www.pittsburghparks.org/schenley. Hikers will meet at the Registration Desk at the GLBIO Conference and additional details will be provided.

This year's keynote presenters exemplify the diversity of the field within this region: Ivet Bahar of University of Pittsburgh; Ziv Bar-Joseph of Carnegie Mellon University (and recipient of the 2012 ISCB Overton Prize); Jing Li of Case Western Reserve University; and Isidore Rigoutsos of Thomas Jefferson University.

Tutorial topics and presenters will include:  Spatial Rule-based Modeling of Cellular Biochemistry with MCell/BioNetGen/CellBlender presented by James Faeder (University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; Exploring and Enabling Biomedical Data Analysis with Galaxy presented by Anton Nekrutenko (Penn State University) and Machine Learning in Biology presented by Seyoung Kim and Eric Xing (Carnegie Mellon University).

The Next NGS Challenge is a joint event of the EU COST Action SeqAhead, the EMBnet, the International Society of Computational Biology (ISCB) and the 7FP Project STATegra. The conference will consist of keynote lectures, contributed oral presentations and lively afternoon poster sessions.  There will be a pre-conference workshop sponsored by EMBnet.

The conference will be held in Valencia, Spain, on May 14-16, 2013.

Extended Deadline! - Student Council Symposium 2013

 Dear ISCB Student Council members,

The submission deadline for abstracts for the Student Council Symposium 2013 has been extended!

The Student Council Symposium is a forum for students, post docs, and young researchers in the fields of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Participants have the opportunity to present their work to an international audience, build a network within the computational biology community and develop important soft skills in an environment that fosters exchange of ideas and knowledge.

We encourage you to submit an abstract and to bring a poster showcasing your work at the Symposium's Poster session.  As a central part of the Symposium, ten abtracts will be selected for an oral presentation.  We accept abstracts covering both scientific studies as well as novel tools and appllications in th efield of computational biology and bioinformatics.

Travel fellowships will be available for accepted abstracts, and awards will be given to the best posters and presentations.

The Student Council Symposium will be held on July 19 in Berlin, immediately preceding ISMB/ECCB 2013.

ISMB/ECCB 2013 - Submission Deadlines Approaching

Dear Colleague,

Submission deadlines for Late Posters and Technology Track presentations for ISMB/ECCB 2013 are approaching.  The conference provides a multidisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest developments in bioinformatics/computational biology.   Please consider sharing your work!

The Late Poster submission deadline is Friday, April 19.

Posters submitted may cover any area of computational biology or bioinformatics. We also encourage submission of purely experimental work and experimental posters should be submitted to the category most accurately reflecting the area of this work and will be displayed accordingly. Posters must include original work that is unpublished or published after August 1, 2012.

Technology Track submission deadline is Friday, April 26.
