ISCB-UK 2027 welcomes abstract submissions featuring research at the forefront of bioinformatics and computational biology. We encourage the submission of original work for consideration for oral and/or poster presentation.

All presentations are categorized based on scientific topics, ensuring a cohesive organization of talks and posters. Please ensure that your abstract communicates a scientific result and refrains from serving as an advertisement for any commercial software package or products.

ISCB-UK 2027 provides a leading platform for presenting groundbreaking research, engaging with peers, and advancing computational biology. Join us in exploring cutting-edge innovations and impactful discoveries.

Submit your work and be part of this conference!

Presenter Requirements

Research may be presented as both a talk and a poster if and only if it is submitted as two individual submissions with TWO different presenters. Having the same person deliver two (or more) different talks is NOT PERMITTED. This allows for many people from one lab to present the work of the lab. A presenting author may present NO MORE THAN ONE talk or poster. This conference is being held in-person only.  Remote presentation is not offered.

This conference follows the ISCB policy for acceptable use of large language models (https://www.iscb.org/iscb-policy-statements/iscb-policy-for-acceptable-use-of-large-language-models).

Topics and Tracks

ISCB-UK is a single-track conference that embraces a broad interpretation of bioinformatics and computational biology. Abstracts should be submitted under one of the following themes. The topics listed under each are indicative, not exhaustive.

1. AI and Machine Learning in Biology and Medicine

AI and machine learning in biology and medicine, including deep learning, foundation and generative models applied across biological and biomedical problems.

2. Bioinformatics Infrastructure, Education and Community

Bioinformatics resources and infrastructure; databases, ontologies and biocuration; and bioinformatics education, training and careers.

3. Genomics, Evolution and Multi-Omics

Multi-omic informatics; single-cell analysis; evolutionary and comparative genomics and phylogenetics; and metagenomics and microbiome analysis.

4. Structural, Molecular and Systems Biology

Protein/RNA structure analysis, prediction and design; network biology and systems biology; and drug discovery and repurposing.

5. Translational and Precision Medicine

Disease bioinformatics and translational medicine; and cancer genomics and personalised medicine.

6. General Computational Biology & Emerging Research Areas

Original work in bioinformatics and computational biology that does not fall neatly within the themes above and innovative and emerging research that pushes the boundaries of computational biology, including quantum computing, spatial computing, and other new technologies, methodologies, and computational paradigms not fully represented within established topic areas.

Submission Guidelines

Any recent research, published or unpublished is eligible for submission.  Presenters of accepted abstracts are required to make the presentation themselves and must register and pay to attend the conference.

Submiters may choose to have their submission reviewed for:

  1. Talk only
  2. Talk or Poster
  3. Poster only

If you select talk or poster, and are unsuccessful for a talk, your abstract will automatically be considered for a poster presentation.  Deadlines are posted above.

Poster only submissions DO NOT require any materials to be uploaded during submission. Submissions are evaluated on the 275 word text abstract provided during submission.

This conference will feature a student-organized symposium before the main conference.  Those wishing to be considered for selection to present in the student-organized symposium should submit in the Student Symposium Track option.  Students and Post-docs are strongly encouraged to consider opting into this option as well as the option to be considered for the main conference.

Participants who opt for (1) talk only or (2) talk or poster are required to submit:

  • Both a 275-word abstract to be posted on the conference website AND a long abstract of up to two (2) pages in PDF format.

Participants who opt for (3) poster only are required to submit:

  • A 275-word abstract to be posted on the conference website.

All abstracts must be submitted using the conference submission site by the deadlines above.
