2005 Recap
Submitted by Gus Cervini, Organizing Committee
The Ninth Annual International Conference
on Research in Computational and Molecular Biology (RECOMB 2005).
co-sponsored by the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and Boston
University's Center for Advanced Genomic Technology, welcomed 625
delegates May 14-18 to the campus of the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, USA.
The scientific program featured 8 keynote talks. 39 Paper presentations
and over 200 posters. Two of the keynote presentations were named
lectures: Charles DeLisi (Boston University) presented RECOMB 2005
The Stanislaw Ulam Memorial Computational Biology Lecture with a
talk titled "Discovery and Annotation of Genetic Modules."
And Jonathan King (MIT) presented the RECOMB 2005 Distinguished
Biology Lectur. By delivering a talk titled "AminoAcid Sequence
Control of the Folding of Parallel ß5-Helix, the Simplext
ß-Sheet Fold"
Kudos to Jill Mesirov of the Broad Institute and Simon Kasif of
Boston University for organizing an exceptional conference. And,
of course, they could not have done it without the professional
conference coordination of Gus Cervini and LynnVitiello. who worked
hard to ensure a great experience for all.
Mark your calendars now for RECOMB 2006: Venice, Italy. April 2-5.
