GIW XXXI/ISCB-Asia V (https://www.iscb.org/giw-iscb-asia2022) to be held in Tainan, Taiwan from Dec 12 to 14, 2022

We have assessed the planned relaxation of travel restrictions by the Taiwanese government and feel confident that it will be possible for international participants to travel to the conference without significant inconvenience (although masks will be required). Therefore we are pleased to announce the conference will indeed be held in-person and presenters will be expected to attend the conference in person.

This call is for the following 3 kinds of presentations:

HIGHLIGHTS TRACK
Highlight Abstract Submissions (Highlight Track)
We invite submission of abstracts of already-published full papers, or papers accepted for publication, between June 1, 2020 and the submission deadline. Publications that are in press and already linked on the journal web site are also eligible for consideration.  The program committee will select the papers to be presented, considering the impact of the work on the field and the interest to the audience of the conference. The abstract should be concise (at most 2-pages) in PDF format, and explain how the work impacts our field.

Accepted presenters for the Highlights Track are required to make the presentation themselves, and must register and pay to attend the conference.

ORIGINAL RESEARCH (2nd Call)
This is a second call for original research paper submissions. If you hoped to submit the first time but were not quite ready, this is your chance!

In summary, 4-8+ page manuscripts describing unpublished original research in bioinformatics are welcome and if accepted for oral presentation will have a chance (not a guarantee) of subsequent publication in journals including BMC, JBCB, Bioinformatics Advances and GigaByte.

For more details, see the first call:  https://www.iscb.org/giw-iscb-asia2022-submissions/papers

For each paper accepted for oral presentation, an author is expected to attend the conference in person to present the work. However an attendee can give at most one presentation during the conference (so coordinate travel plans with your co-authors).

POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Poster submission should be 1-2 pages, in plain text or pdf format, concisely describing the work to be presented and preferably including a figure. Emphasis is on providing a means to encourage scientific discussion of your work.

Work in progress is welcome.  Presenters are expected to attend the conference in person.  At most one poster per attendee
