Regional, topical, worldwide - your platform to present science
dedicated to facilitating development for students and young researchers
The ISCB Affiliates program is designed to forge links between ISCB and regional non-profit membership groups, centers, institutes and networks that involve researchers from various institutions and/or organizations within a defined geographic region involved in the advancement of bioinformatics. Such groups have regular meetings either in person or online, and an organizing body in the form of a board of directors or steering committee. If you are interested in affiliating your regional membership group, center, institute or network with ISCB, please review these guidelines (.pdf) and send your exploratory questions to Diane E. Kovats, ISCB Chief Executive Officer (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). For information about the Affilliates Committee click here.

The annual international conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) is the major meeting of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). Over the past 22 years the ISMB conference has grown to become the world's largest bioinformatics/computational biology conference. Joining forces with the European Conference on Computational Biology (14th Annual Conference) ISMB/ECCB 2015 will be the year's most important computational biology event globally.
The conferences provide a multidisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest developments in bioinformatics/computational biology. ISMB/ECCB brings together scientists from computer science, molecular biology, mathematics, statistics and related fields. Its principal focus is on the development and application of advanced computational methods for biological problems. ISMB/ECCB 2015 will offer the strongest scientific program and the broadest scope of any international bioinformatics/computational biology conference in 2015. Building on past successes, the Dublin conference is designed to cater to variety of disciplines within the bioinformatics/computational biology community.
ISMB/ECCB 2015 takes place July 10-14, at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD). For two days preceding the conference, additional opportunities including Satellite Meetings, Student Council Symposium, and a selection of Special Interest Group Meetings and Tutorials are all offered to enable registered participants to learn more on the latest methods and tools within specialty research areas.
ISCB - A Safe Space
ISCB works to maintain an environment that allows science and scientific careers to flourish through respectful, inclusive, and equitable treatment of others and is committed to providing a safe place for its members and nonmember participants. As a statement of principle, ISCB rejects discrimination and harassment by any means, based on factors such as ethnic or national origin, race, religion, citizenship, language, political or other opinion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, age, or economic class. In addition, ISCB opposes all forms of bullying including threatening, humiliating, coercive, or intimidating conduct that causes harm to, interferes with, or sabotages scientific activity and careers. Discrimination, harassment (in any form), and bullying create a hostile environment that reduces the quality, integrity, and pace of the advancement of science by marginalizing individuals and communities. It also damages productivity and career advancement, and prevents the healthy exchange of ideas.
ISCB is committed to supporting a productive and safe working environment for all who are participating in ISCB activities, conferences, and programs. Incidents of inappropriate and uncivil behavior are taken extremely seriously. If an individual experiences or witnesses harassment, they should contact an ISCB Ombudsman (wearing the ISCB Ally ribbon) in person or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or use a venue phone and ask for security if they feel unsafe. All complaints will be treated seriously and responded to promptly. While ISCB is not an adjudicating body, ISCB has appointed Ombudsmen who can be consulted, give advice or help seek out appropriate authorities to further handle any form of harassment or assault. Confidentiality will be maintained unless disclosure is legally required.
All conference delegates are expected to adhere to the ISCB Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Ian Lawson Van Toch Memorial Award for Outstanding Student Paper
Outstanding Oral Poster Presentation Prize sponsored by University of California Berkeley Center for Computational Biology
F1000Research Poster Awards
RCSB PDB Poster Prize
Springer Outstanding Poster Award
Wiley Poster Prizes
The Outstanding Student Paper Award is given to the student who presents the most thought-provoking or original paper at the Conference, as judged by our panel of experts. For 2014 the award has been presented to Andrey D. Prjibelski, St. Petersburg Academic University, Russia.
This award is given in memory of Ian Lawson Van Toch, a 23 year old Medical Biophysics graduate student at the University of Toronto who passed away in August 2007. Ian was fortunate to have already discovered his passion for computational biology and how it can - and will - lead to quantum breakthroughs in cancer research. This passion was sparked when Dr Igor Jurisica hired Ian to work in his lab at the Ontario Cancer Institute as a researcher during the summer of 2006. That introduction blossomed into a mentoring relationship that is so vital to helping young students launch their careers.
Our thanks go to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, and IBM who have sponsored this award since 2008.
Past recipients of this special award include: (click here for details)
The UC Berkeley Center for Computational Biology is proud to recognize the most promising trainees as part of its mission to provide outstanding educational opportunities. A $500.00 prize will be awarded to two (2) presenters deemed to be outstanding in their oral presentation of their scientific posters at ISMBECCB 2015.
F1000Research will present five (5) poster awards for outstanding ISMBECCB 2015 poster presentations. Prizes include a one year subscription to F1000Prime and access to the new F1000 Workspace, plus a free article submission to F1000Research (value $1000).
