About CBH

The Canadian Bioinformatics Hub (CBH) is Canada’s platform for Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Data Science (BCBDS) skills and community development. The platform builds on the rich legacy of Bioinformatics.ca and the Canadian Bioinformatics Workshops (CBW), established in 1999 to meet the growing demand for a bioinformatics workforce in Canada.

CBH is built on the two foundational pillars of Training and Community, both governed by an overarching Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility Framework. Under CBH, training and community resources are regionally distributed by six centers across the country, supporting capacity growth in talent according to local needs. Together, we are accelerating the growth of a vibrant health and life sciences sector in Canada by scaling up Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Data Science capacity.

Expansion of Bioinformatics.ca into the Canadian Bioinformatics Hub is supported by a 2024 Health Research Training Platform Grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Genome Canada.

About the Conference

While CBHC 2026 marks the first national conference under the CBH, its goal is to improve the visibility of our field as a research strength in Canada by showcasing national bioinformatics, computational biology and data sciences research .

Throughout the two-day scientific program, we will spotlight Canadian BCBDS research, enable collaboration and networking, and recognize Canadian excellence in our field. The scientific program will feature keynote presentations, plenary talks, panel discussions, and multiple networking activities. Additionally, pre-conference workshops focused on supporting trainees and early-career researchers will take place the day before.
