Officer
Election Results
Many thanks
to the 319 members (17%) who participated in the ISCB Officer elections
for the upcoming term beginning January 21, 2005. Based on the election
results, the ISCB board of directors has ratified the election as
follows:
Vice
Presidents:
Burkhard Rost of Columbia University
Barbara Bryant of Millennium Pharmaceuticals
Secretary:
Toni Kazic of University of Missouri – Columbia
Treasurer:
David Rocke of University of California – Davis
In addition
to the above, Michael Gribskov of Purdue University was elected
last year as the President-elect (he was already serving as President
at the time, therefore ensuring a second term), and will therefore
begin his second term as President along with the other Officers
elected in this cycle. Full ballot results are detailed at http://www.iscb.org/20041017_results.shtml.
We would like
to acknowledge Professor Anna Tramontano, whose term as Vice President
will conclude in January 2005. Anna will have served in the position
of Vice President for three years with a concerted effort toward
the development of an international affiliates program, serving
as chair of the Affiliates & SIGs Committee. Although the next
chair will be able to enjoy the fruits of Anna’s labor, she
laid a solid foundation upon which to build. Thank you Anna!
