  • Affiliated Groups

The ISCB Affiliates program is designed to forge links between ISCB and regional non-profit membership groups, centers, institutes and networks that involve researchers from various institutions and/or organizations within a defined geographic region involved in the advancement of bioinformatics. Such groups have regular meetings either in person or online, and an organizing body in the form of a board of directors or steering committee. If you are interested in affiliating your regional membership group, center, institute or network with ISCB, please review these guidelines (.pdf) and send your exploratory questions to Diane E. Kovats, ISCB Chief Executive Officer (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).  For information about the Affilliates Committee click here.

ISCB Membership Dues Calculator

ISCB offers membership dues pricing based on your status as a working professional, post doc, or student, as well as what country you work in (or your home country for students). In this way we offer nine different dues levels that are intended to make purchasing an ISCB membership as affordable as possible no matter where you are in the world.

To calculate the cost of an ISCB membership, please select your "Membership Type" from the choices of Professional, Post Doc, or Student, and then select the Country where you work (or the country you are from if you are a student).

Please note that dues are subject to change without notice and the "Your Membership Dues" result is not guaranteed for memberships purchased at a later date.

INTRODUCING Institutional Membership Categories

The ISCB expands its membership option from solely individual memberships to now include institutional membership opportunities with a wide range of benefits.

Not-For-Profit Institutional Membership
Not-for-profit research organizations such as foundations, governmental research institutes and other institutions with a research program in Life Science Informatics (educational institutions such as universities and colleges are excluded).

For-profit Institutional Membership
For-profit organizations working in the Life Sciences sector including but not limited to pharmaceutical and biotech companies, hard- and software manufacturers, consultants and publishers.

Benefits
One representative of the institution shall be designated as the Institutional Member Liaison (IML) to ISCB for administration of the benefits below.

The Institutional Member organization may opt to be listed on the ISCB portal site with a short description and hyperlink to the organization’s website.

  • The Institutional Member organization may take advantage of the ISCB member conference registration discount up to five times per year for ISCB owned conferences - excludes affiliated and co-sponsored conferences. (A $1,100.00 value.)

    • All 5 registrations may be for the same ISCB conference, or they may be split up between various ISCB conferences.
    • The names and contact details of each conference registrant shall be designated by the IML prior to conference registration (refunds/credits will not be given for conference registrants that have not been pre-designated in this way).
    • The conference date must precede the institutional membership expiration date.
  • Up to 10 free job postings per year on the ISCB jobs portal. (A $2,250.00 value.)
  • Up to 15 online passes to the membership areas of the ISCB portal. (A $750.00 value.)

    • The names and contact details of the 15 individuals must be designated in advance by the IML and are non-transferable to other contacts in the course of the one-year institutional membership
    • The online passes expire on the institutional membership expiration date.
  • One representative, as designated by the IML, is invited to the ISCB affiliates and institutional members meeting held during the ISMB conference with board members of the ISCB.

Total Value of above Benefits: $4,100.00

Annual Fee
The annual fee for an Institutional Membership is $2,050 USD. This is 50% off the total value of the benefits detailed above when purchased separately. The Institutional Membership represents an exceptional opportunity for any organization dedicated to providing its personnel with many of the ISCB benefits offered throughout the year, particularly in the areas of education, recruitment and networking.

Restrictions
An ISCB Institutional Membership is not an endorsement of the institution in any way, and the Institutional Membership organization explicitly agrees not to advertise, promote or make this membership known in such a way as to imply any endorsement from ISCB. If ISCB, at its discretion, perceives the membership is presented by the organization as an endorsement, ISCB reserves the right to invalidate the institutional membership immediately, without obligation to refund fee(s) paid to-date.

ISCB Mailing List Privacy Policies

Below are the privacy polices for ISCB mailing list options for our members.

#1: Notices directly from ISCB: ISCB sends regular e-mailings to registered members regarding internal Society news including newsletters, ISCB conferences, calls for nominations for board members/officers/annual awards, letters from the President, and annual renewal notices. This email list is never shared with or sold to third parties. To opt-out of this mailing option will disable your email address from news or notices directly from ISCB, although we may still contact you via email regarding any issues concerning your membership record or payment (including renewal notices as beginning 90 days prior to membership expiration).

#2: Affiliate conference organizers and societies: Members who opt-in may from time to time receive e-mailings from related conference organizers and societies regarding bioinformatics related information. Such notices might include conference announcements and calls for papers, posters, abstracts, regional affiliate news, etc. Mailings could be from non-profit organizations or academic institutions. Shared information with such groups will be restricted to your personal contact information (name, institution, email) and will not include any other details collected by ISCB from your membership registration purposes. Group(s) who are given permission to send these alerts are also required to purge the provided information after the notice is sent. Approval must be sought from ISCB for each and every mailing and the vendor must sign an agreement to abide by the ISCB privacy policies. Financial information will never be disclosed, as ISCB does not store credit card information on our server, and all credit card payments are processed directly through our merchant bank.

#3: Product advertisers: Members who opt-in may from time to time receive e-mailings about products and/or publications. Such notices might include an advertisement about new hardware or software to enhance bioinformatics research, an announcement about a new book or journal, or services available to the bioinformatics community. Mailings would generally be from commercial enterprises, although some non-profits may be interested in contacting you about their products as well. Shared information with such groups will be restricted to your personal contact information (name, institution, email) and will not include any other details collected by ISCB from your membership registration purposes. Dues are listed in US dollars (USD). We accept most major credit cards, and if your local currency is not USD you will receive your bank's prevailing exchange rate (which is usually quite competitive).  You can determine your dues using the Dues Calculator.

Each ISCB membership is valid for one full year from the date of receipt of payment. This means your membership will be activated the day payment is received, and will expire 365 days later.  Early renewals will be extended 365 days from the current membership expiration date. ISCB membership dues are tiered (high income, middle-upper income, middle-lower income, and low income) based on country assignments using four global economic indicators (Gross Domestic Product, Gross National Income, Wealth per capita, and Median Wealth per capita). Economic indicators are reviewed biennially.
