Biomedical Data Science (BDS) encompasses the study and pursuit of the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and decision-making, driven by efforts to improve human health. The graduate programs in BDS blend the best of statistics, computer sciences, biostatistics and biomedical informatics and train students to develop computational and mathematical approaches to analyze large-scale biomedical data and to lead collaborative, interdisciplinary team science efforts.

VIZomics develops a sustainable open-source ecosystem (OSE) for collaborative research and education in mechanistic biology. It is funded through an NSF grant (#2346274) to transform iCn3D into an OSE, empowering a global community to advance 3D web-based biomolecular visualization, structural analysis, research collaborations and education. iCn3D (https://github.com/ncbi/icn3d) was originally developed at the NIH with the capability to visualize, analyze and share 3D visualizations (molecular scenes) and analyses through a FAIR mechanism, ensuring reproducibility. VIZomics democratizes access to 3D molecular graphics for researchers, educators, and students and aims to foster collaboration among them worldwide via a global developer community. We support education through interactive tools and training, and immersive VR represents a major advance for classrooms. At ISMB 2025, we will present an iCn3D-based immersive VR platform that should be invaluable for education and for collaborative research. X-omics is a National Roadmap Large-Scale Research Infrastructure, partially funded by NWO with a budget of 40 million euro. X-omics aims to establish a multi-omics research infrastructure across the Netherlands, by combining technologies in the field of genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and data analysis, integration & stewardship. With this infrastructure biomedical problems can be solved using an integrated approach. Two major goals are:

1. Advance X-omics technologies far beyond state-of-art,
2. Realize an integrated X-omics infrastructure.
